To shut down my Windows 8.1 desktop PC I have to bring up the Charms, click on Settings, click on Power, and then select the shut down option. An alternate means of shutting down my PC is to right click the Start menu, select Shut down or sign out, and then pick the shut down option. Both options are time consuming. And this is where Power Magic comes in. To shut down my PC I need only click the shut down button on Power Magic’s interface.

The minimal system requirements for running Power Magic are: 1GHz processor or better, 512MB of RAM memory or more, 5MB of free disk space, 32 or 65-bit Windows operating system.

While Power Magic is running you will notice an icon in the system tray. Right click this icon and you will be presented with a context menu that features the following options: stand by, hibernate, lock, log off, screensaver, monitor off, restart, shutdown, mute, settings, help page, exit.

Left click the Power Magic system tray icon and you will be presented with one of two panels. You see, Power Magic features two hide-away panels – one to the left, one to the right. Place your mouse cursor on the far left hand side of the screen, and a panel shows up. Place your mouse cursor on the far right hand side of the screen and the other panel shows up.

Several power commands are presented on Power Magic’s panel. The same commands are presented by the context menu that shows up when you right click the system tray icon: stand by, hibernate, lock, log off, screensaver, monitor off, restart, shutdown, mute, settings, help page, exit.

Power Magic is free software.

Power Magic is great. It is great because it allows you to easily access several very useful commands.

Pros

Any Windows-powered machine will easily meet Power Magic’s system requirements. There’s a hide-away panel to the left and another to the right. Several useful commands are displayed on the Power Magic panel. Power Magic is free software.

Cons

None that I could think of.
